A Netbook is meant to be small and portable. You can purchase external cd/dvd drives for your Netbook if so desired.

Yes. This would be perfect for your needs. A netbook is plenty fast for email and internet access. It is also extremely light-weight, so it will be easy for you to carry around.
If you own a small business, or are self-employed, you should consider http://www.workingpoint.com to manage your business. Everything from WorkingPoint is online, so you access to your business where ever you go!
