How to install software on a netbook?

Wait, how do you install software on a netbook, if netbooks do not have cd drives?

Well, here are a few options:

1) Use an external CD Drive – Although you might not want to have a CD drive built-in to your netbook, it maybe necessary to buy an external CD drive.  Visit BestBuy to see their selection of external cd drives: Buy Online, Pickup in Your Local Best Buy® Store.

2) Use a USB Stick – If you are an advanced PC user, you can use programs like Daemon Tools, PowerISO, or Alcohol to turn your CDs and DVD into mountable images. Transfer the images onto a USB stick and plug it into your netbook. On the netbook, mount the image and install as necessary. Beware of copyright and EULA requirements. Do not make illegal copies of disks. If you don’t have a USB drive, you can buy some for cheap here: Hot Deals Wednesday at BestBuy.com.

3) Network your netbook – If you are on the same network as your PC, you can transfer files and programs between your computers over the network. It may not be possible to copy programs across computers, but it might be possible to network another computer’s cd drive and use that to install programs. This way is probably the easiest and will not require anything extra.
